The Future

My heartfelt thank to the people of Wolverhampton South West for their courtesy and help during the nine enjoyable and fulfilling years I enjoyed as their MP.

Naturally, I was disappointed not to be re-elected in the General Election on 6 May 2010, but that's democracy, and I am proud to live in one of the finest democracies in the world.  Many people made their decision based on their views about national politics, so when Labour fell out of favour, I went with it.

Wolverhampton is my home, and I’ll continue to be active here.  For example, I have reinstated the free legal advice surgery which I ran for several years before my election. It takes place at the Whitmore Reans Welfare Centre, 138 Leicester Street WV6 0PS (01902 712 941). Please feel free to arrange to see me there, by contacting the WRWC.

I am making no early decisions about my future. Perhaps I‘ll return to being a solicitor.  For the first time in my life, I’m unemployed and, because I get a generous six months of redundancy pay, I am taking the summer off.
